Album Cover revealed and it's process

Here it is guys the first look at the album cover of "ZA4M: DubStep" it wasn't quite the way I expected it to turn out, but it still looks fantastic in my opinion.

As you can tell, the photo is of the HAT being half way obliterated somehow. I chose the HAT because his appearance is amusing and something different than i usually do, plus he's awesome. So far the only spoilers we get from this cover is the four named artists at the bottom. We now know that there will be a song from Skrillex, Deadmau 5, BassNectar, and Kraddy, however the songs from them is still a mystery.

THE PROCESS OF CREATING THE COVER

PICKING SIZE, SHAPE, AND OUTLINING

I know the exact measures of a cd coverbook, but i still outlined the shape using a ruler and coverbook from another soundtrack. Then I traced my desired picture using very lite pencil sketches.

DARKER PENCIL SKETCH

I then went over the main parts with a darker pencil sketch, mainly over the darkest parts of the face and logo.

PEN SKETCH

Then i used a pen and traced over the head, body, and logo. As many of my closest friends and relatives know, I favor drawing with pen over everything else. I learned pen drawing from my middle school art teacher, and have loved it ever since.

PEN SHADING AND OUTLINING

I used a more inky pen to darken the pen outlines, particularly around the logo, then shaded in the completley black parts like around the mouth and the eye hole.

ADD A LITTLE COLOR

Normally I hate coloring, for some reason it feels like someone else's job and not something i should be doing. But i knew that someone had to color this. So i started coloring with your average colored pencils.

ADD THE FINISHING TOUCHES
Hallelujah! the last thing is a little detail and design, this is probably the first time i've put effort in an online design process. And yes I am happy for how it turned out, the only thing i dislike about this is the EP on the end of "step". I could've easily fixed it but oh well.

I hope everyone is excited for this album, and i promise it will come out soon. -Tom West
